What to Expect: Before, During, and After Treatment
Before
All treatment begins with a consultation with Dr Sharon. She will assess your skin, discuss your goals, and confirm whether Profhilo®, Profhilo Structura®, or a combination is the right fit. Topical anaesthetic is applied to the area before treatment to keep the experience comfortable.
During
Treatment takes around 20 minutes. Profhilo® and Profhilo Structura® are injected through a precise series of points that allow the hyaluronic acid to disperse evenly and stimulate collagen and elastin in the surrounding tissue. The face, neck, décolletage, hands, or upper arms can be treated, depending on your concern. Most patients find the procedure quick and comfortable, with mild pressure at each injection point rather than significant pain. All Profhilo® and Profhilo Structura® treatments at McKeown Medical are performed by Dr Sharon Ritchie, our aesthetic doctor specialising in regenerative and bio-stimulatory injectables.
After
Downtime is minimal. You may notice small raised bumps at the injection points, particularly after classic Profhilo®, which typically settle within a few hours. Most patients return to normal activities the same day. Avoid touching the area, applying makeup, or vigorous exercise for the rest of the day, and avoid saunas, steam rooms, or sun exposure for 24 hours. Results build gradually over six to twelve weeks as new collagen and elastin form. Treatment is typically delivered as a course of two sessions, four weeks apart, with maintenance every six months recommended to sustain the result.

What's the difference between Profhilo® and Profhilo Structura®?
Profhilo® is a skin remodelling injectable that targets skin quality, working in the upper layers of the skin to improve hydration, firmness and elasticity. Profhilo Structura® is the latest evolution of the formulation, engineered to work deeper in the subcutaneous fat layer, where it strengthens tissue support and adds subtle structural lift to areas affected by volume loss, early jowling, or mid-face sagging. Many patients start with Profhilo® to restore skin quality and progress to Structura® for deeper support, or combine the two as part of a regenerative plan. Does Profhilo® replace dermal filler?
No. Profhilo® and dermal filler do different jobs. Filler adds volume to specific areas to restore lost contour. Profhilo® doesn’t add volume at all. It releases pure hyaluronic acid into the skin to stimulate collagen and elastin, improving overall skin quality and firmness. Many patients combine the two: filler for structure where it’s needed, Profhilo® for skin remodelling across larger areas. Your treatment plan will be built around what your skin actually needs.
When will I see results?
Results build gradually as the hyaluronic acid stimulates new collagen and elastin.
