What is neck lift surgery?
A traditional neck lift procedure removes excess fat and loose skin from the neck area. The plastic surgeon also tightens the underlying muscle to restore the neck’s contours.

The plastic surgeon accesses the deepest tissues of the neck area through a small incision under the chin. This allows the surgeon to work on the tissues below the superficial neck muscles. Excess fat is removed, and the tissues are reshaped for a smoother profile.

Is this cosmetic procedure carried out under general anaesthetic?

This practice has many advantages as it avoids the complications that can arise with a general anaesthetic and has been shown to reduce recovery time.
You will be given excellent pain relief to avoid any discomfort during the procedure, with several strategically placed local anaesthetic injections to numb the pain.
You can discuss whether you prefer a local anaesthetic or a general anaesthetic with your surgeon before your procedure.
