Laser resurfacing for patients in Irvine is an effective treatment for a range of skin problems.

“Our lasers improve every skin type.”

Laser resurfacing treatment can be a full skin procedure to restore a youthful complexion to mature skin or a gentle non-ablative treatment for a renewed radiance at any age.

The team at our first-class aesthetic clinic designs bespoke treatment plans for all our patients and consistently provides excellent results.

How does laser skin resurfacing work?

When laser light is directed onto the skin, it breaks down the top layer of damaged skin cells, revealing the new, healthy skin beneath.

In addition to this exfoliating effect, the slight trauma caused to the skin stimulates your body to increase collagen production and create new skin cells.

Collagen is responsible for the smooth firmness of young skin; higher levels make the skin look smoother, tighter, and more lifted at any age.

Bespoke Laser Treatment fro ALL Our Irvine Patients

Our skin experts design a bespoke laser treatment programme for all our Irvine patients to address individual skin concerns.

If the deeper layers of your skin are damaged, the laser energy will be more substantial, and you may require multiple treatments to achieve the desired results.

If you want light skin rejuvenation without removing any skin tissue, a gentler, non-ablative treatment will provide you with clear and glowing skin.

Skin concerns treated with laser resurfacing.

We treat a wide range of skin imperfections with laser energy at our clinic near Irvine.

Laser treatment is a highly effective anti-ageing treatment because it can remove age spots, improve the appearance of sun-damaged skin, reduce scarring, smooth away wrinkles, and make large pores look smaller.

Laser resurfacing is also suitable for younger patients with uneven skin texture caused by facial scarring, particularly acne scars.

Laser Skin Resurfacing at McKeown Medical near Irvine

Patients at McKeown Medical receive a thorough skin assessment with one of our skin experts before we advise them on the correct laser resurfacing treatment for their skin concerns.

We are always honest in our assessments and ensure patients have realistic expectations of their laser skin resurfacing treatment.

We offer a range of laser treatment options. Your skin expert may suggest combining other laser treatments for the best results.

Are there any risks associated with laser skin resurfacing?

When you choose a medical aesthetic clinic like McKeown Medical, where patient care and comfort are paramount, you mitigate most risks.

Full laser resurfacing is invasive and may leave the skin vulnerable to infection, so we prescribe antibiotics and anti-virals as a precaution.

We monitor healing in the treated area carefully to prevent complications from developing.

BBL laser treatment

We also use the industry-leading Sciton BBL treatment, which provides stunning results with minimal downtime.

It is ideal for younger patients from Irvine, especially those suffering from acne scars; however, it is also recommended as a regular treatment to maintain healthy skin.

This BBL treatment harnesses the power of broad-spectrum laser light energy. The light breaks down red and brown pigmentation in the skin and stimulates collagen production in the tissues.

BBL can be used to treat the following skin issues;

Pigmentation, age spots and dark spots
Enlarged pores
Coarse skin texture
Skin laxity
Acne scars
Broken veins

Length of treatment and pain relief

15 to 20 minutes, during which topical numbing cream is used.

Recovery time

None

How long will the results last?

Results are permanent, but repeated treatments are recommended for maintenance.

Cost

From £350 a session

You can learn more about BBL and see some before and after pictures here.

ProFractional laser treatment

The ProFractional laser is the most potent laser we use. It produces laser energy that can treat the deeper layers of the skin. We use it to treat deep scarring, typically surgical scars, severe acne scars and scars caused by trauma.

The ProFractional laser can be used with surgical precision, making it ideal for treating specific areas of skin damage without affecting the surrounding tissue.

Multiple treatments may be required to treat the most profound scars. Although complete removal is not always possible, this highly effective treatment will significantly improve the appearance of the skin.

Additional treatments, such as fillers or light therapy, may be suggested to reduce indentations and redness further.

Length of treatment and pain relief

Up to 45 minutes. A local anaesthetic or numbing cream will be used.

Recovery time

Your skin will be red and flakey for around a week after treatment. The best results will appear six months after the treatments have finished.

How long will the results last?

The improvement will be permanent.

Cost

From £2 500.

HALO laser treatment

HALO laser treatment offers skin resurfacing for moderately damaged skin or patients in Irvine with more severe issues who prefer to avoid the downtime associated with more aggressive treatment.

The HALO laser works on both the superficial and deeper layers, stimulating collagen production in the tissues and rejuvenating the skin. The temperature and depth of penetration of the laser beam are monitored and adjusted throughout the treatment to ensure the desired outcome.

HALO suits sun-damaged skin, fine lines, wrinkles and enlarged pores. Its use is not confined to the face and can also rejuvenate the skin’s surface on the neck, chest, arms and hands.

Length of treatment and pain relief

The treatment will last about an hour, and numbing cream will be applied to the treated area.

Recovery time

Your skin will be red and flakey for a week after treatment. Once the effects of higher collagen production have improved skin quality, the benefits of treatment will be visible after about three months.

Longevity of results

The results are permanent, but we recommend preserving the benefits with twice-yearly BBL treatments.

Cost

HALO treatment costs from £1 200 per session.

Full laser skin resurfacing

Full laser skin resurfacing is an invasive procedure that reverses the ageing process on mature or damaged skin for our Irvine patients. It removes the top layer of facial skin completely, stimulating the body’s natural healing response. The tissues in the treated area respond by producing more collagen to repair the skin, creating a fresher, tighter, and smoother skin surface.

Full laser skin resurfacing is highly effective at treating the following skin concerns;

Age spots, unwanted pigmentation and sun damage
Nicotine staining
Fine lines and wrinkles
Sagging skin
Coarse skin texture

We use the industry-leading Sciton TRL laser device that offers the best skin rejuvenation results.

Length of treatment and pain management

Treatment sessions last one to two hours, depending on the skin issues. A local anaesthetic is used, but the procedure causes mild discomfort at most.

Recovery time

Your skin will be red and flakey for a fortnight after treatment, and full recovery may take several months.

Full-face laser resurfacing is our most invasive laser treatment; your skin will need special care.

When you leave the clinic, your skin will be covered in a Vaseline-type gel called Aquaphor, which provides a protective barrier on the treated area. You will be prescribed antibiotics and anti-viral medication to protect against infection.

Follow the detailed post-care instructions to ensure optimum results and a speedy recovery.

You will have regular checkups to ensure that your skin is healing well.

Longevity of results

Results are permanent

Cost

Full laser skin resurfacing costs from £5 000.
