Dr Kavita Sharma

Dr Kavita Sharma (GMC 7039911), MB ChB and FRCS(Plast), is a Specialist Registered Consultant Plastic Surgeon who works alongside her NHS role at the Canniesburn Plastic Surgery Unit, where she specialises in microsurgical and oncoplastic breast reconstruction for cancer patients. At McKeown Medical, she brings her technical precision and refined aesthetic eye to breast and body surgery, and is one of the few female plastic surgeons in Scotland performing aesthetic surgery.

Background

Dr Kavita Sharma qualified in medicine from the University of Sheffield in 2009 and went on to complete higher surgical training in plastic surgery, earning Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Plastic Surgery (FRCS(Plast)) and Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS). She holds an MSc from the University of Edinburgh and an MD research degree from the University of Sheffield. She was awarded Specialist Registration in Plastic Surgery by the GMC in August 2021 and is a GMC-recognised trainer. Dr Sharma works as an NHS consultant plastic surgeon at the Canniesburn Plastic Surgery Unit within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, one of the UK’s leading centres for reconstructive plastic surgery.

Dr Kavita’s private aesthetic practice at McKeown Medical centres on breast and body surgery, drawing directly on her reconstructive background. She performs aesthetic breast augmentation with silicone implants and fat transfer, breast lift, breast reduction, and gynaecomastia surgery for men, alongside labiaplasty and otoplasty. Awards & Recognition

Dr Kavita Sharma holds an MB ChB from the University of Sheffield (2009) and Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Plastic Surgery (FRCS(Plast)). She has been on the GMC Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery since 2021 and is a GMC-recognised trainer, serving as a clinical supervisor, educational supervisor, and undergraduate training coordinator. Her academic and research contributions have been recognised in the Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery (JPRAS), where her research led by Professor Sheila MacNeil on polymer science in plastic, burns, and reconstructive surgery was featured as part of JPRAS’s recognition of female surgeons in science. She completed a prestigious oncoplastic breast fellowship at Newcastle, and has contributed internationally through reconstructive and microsurgical training missions at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, Ghana.

Dr Kavita Sharma joined McKeown Medical in 2025 and her appointment was covered across the clinic’s channels, where she now works alongside the wider team featured in the BBC One documentary Facelifts & Fillers, the Tatler Cosmetic Surgery Guide, and the Hello! Aesthetics Guide 2025. Her international reconstructive work at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, Ghana was published by ReSurge Africa as part of the Canniesburn Plastic Surgery Unit training mission, and her peer-reviewed research has been recognised in the Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery (JPRAS).
